The Truman Doctrine was originally called The Policy Of Containment, proposed by George Kennan. The Marshall Plan created an economic miracle in Western Europe. NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, it was created in 1949. The original NATO included Britain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Iceland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, and the US. The main purpose o NATO was to protect its member nations, if one was attacked, all of them would retaliate together. In the beginning all 3 of these "plans'' protected the United States, but then they began to provide help to other countries allied to the United States.

The Truman Doctrine was a plan by President Truman in attempt to contain the expansion of communism to the extent it's borders had reached already attempting to stop it from expanding any further. The Marshall Plan created by George Marshall, was meant to help the western european countries recover from the economic damage of WW2. President Truman put this plan through and spit a total of 17 million dollars being sent to western european countries for the next 4 year in attempt to rebuild their economy. NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The Original members of this new group were France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Iceland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, and the United States. The idea of this group was the idea that if any of the countries that were in the group was attacked all the countries would retaliate together, yet this was the exact kind of permanent alliance George Washington warned about in his farewell speech. The reason these factors could have caused the cold war is the fact that it empowered the U.S. and created a rival for the Soviet Union in the United States.
