The illustration provided clearly demonstrates that the Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand ignited the M.A.I.N. causes of WWI.

Using at least 3 of the 4 causes (in M.A.I.N.), analyze and explain how each played a significant role in the starting of WWI and how each of them impacted the ending result of the Great War.

TIP:
Try breaking the question up into 2 or 3 parts (1)Define: M.A.I.N.,  (2) significance in starting WWI, and/or (3) impact on ending result.  Put them together to form a quality response.

The first cause of the war was militarism the (M), this was a nonstop race for the nations to develop a strong military power. This resulted in war where the (A) allies defended each other in battles causing more countries to get involved in the war. Then there is the (I) which stands for imperialism which was where a bigger country took over a smaller country. These impacted the outcome of the war by the allies they had. We had a superior military alone but with allies we were a great power, that was capable of defending its self and its allys.

Edit: The (N) stands for nationalism which is when citizens have pride or love for their country. This just helps in war because the more people who love there country will fight for it as well.

One of the causes of WW1 was imperialism because stronger countries were taking over weaker countries and starting the war. Militarism is also a cause of WW1 because they would make there army stronger and it everyone thought they were stronger than everyone else. Over time, countries throughout Europe made mutual defense agreements that would pull them into battle. Thus, if one country was attacked, allied countries were bound to defend them. Before World War 1, the following alliances existed:
Russia and Serbia
Germany and Austria-Hungary
France and Russia
Britain and France and Belgium
Japan and Britain
Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia got involved to defend Serbia. Germany seeing Russia mobilizing, declared war on Russia. France was then drawn in against Germany and Austria-Hungary. Germany attacked France through Belgium pulling Britain into war. Then Japan entered the war. Later, Italy and the United States would enter on the side of the allies.

Imperialism was a big part in WWI because countries wanted to take over weaker countries, to gain more an more land for their own use. That made countries mad because they don't want to be taken over.
Militarism played a big part in the war because it made the stronger countries strong and want to take over weaker countries.
Alliances is important in starting the war because if a strong country tries to take over a weaker country, their allies will get all mad and get involved.

Imperialism played a role in the starting of world war 1 because the other countries thought that they were better and stronger than the other countries. Another cause of ww1 is allies because certain countries paired up or became allies with other countries to make them stronger in the war. One more cause of ww1 is militarism all the countries wanted to have good strong militaries for the war. So if they had a good military and allies and other countries with them then that country could have a better chance to when the war

M.A.I.N. stands for militarism, alliance, imperialism, and nationalism; which were the four main causes of World War I. Alliances were formed in many of the European countries (The Great Powers). The Alliances basically created "teams", separating the nations. Imperialism (strong countries taking over weaker countries) caused a sort of competition between the countries. Each country wanted to have the most land and power. Nationalism is citizens being devoted to and having pride in their country. Each country wanted to be the best and most powerful, which is how nationalism effected the war. These causes of the war were also happening during the war. There were many different groups of allies, who helped each other during the war. There were strong military forces, along with many new weapons and fighting strategies invented during this war (for it). There were also strong feelings of nationalism, with each country wanting their side to win, and their ideas to be supported.

M- militarism
A- Alliances
I- Imperialism
N- Nationalism
Militarism was a significant cause because they had such pride in their mitary that it built in with Imperialism, because Imperialism and Militarism goes together by each having effect on eachother. Militarism helps imperialism by giving them the idea that they could take over other countries because they have "a strong military. This effected the end by
Alliances was a significant cause because when they became an alliance they became a sort of team. So when a country on that team gets bother by a different country all of the countries in that allience join in the fight to protect their team. this effected the ending by countries not backing down because they want to defend their teams.
Imperialism was a significant cause because each country tried taking other countries over. This happened because they believe that their country is larger and stronger. This was a big effect in WW1. This effected the ending by a country wanting to take over another country as a deal to back down.

M.A.I.N is made of four different things. Militarism, the belief in devoloping a strong armed forces and weapons with intent use. Alliances, when countries become friends. Imperialism, When a stronger country takes over a weaker country. Nationalism, Pride and love for your country. These all impacted the war a lot. Alliances helped start the war by countries become close and others get jealous and want to be alliances with that country. So war ends up breaking out. It helped the end impact of the war by everyone trying to become alliances again for good trade so peace came back. Imperialism started the war by each country trying to take over weaker to become more powerful which got other countries mad to start the war. It helped the ending of the war by each country realizing they are powerful enough for now and dont need to continue the war. Finally, nationalism made everyone have pride in their own country and dis other countries. It helped end the war by each country realizing they are good enough.

M.A.I.N stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. Imperialism was a big part in the starting of WW1, because every big nation wanted to take more and more land for their own use, so they tried to take over as many smaller or weaker countries as they could, and this made those other countries mad. Alliance was another huge part of WW1, because after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Germany came to Austria Hungary's side to help fight against Serbia, and soon many different nations came in to join and end up turning into WW1. Militarism is a belief to keep a strong army and use it agressively if needed. Many of the nations felt like they should need a strong army, especially Germany, and they ended up having to take blame for starting the war and their military was forced to be limited, and that made Germany very angry.

The impact that militarism had on the start of the war was that armed forces had to be ready to defend their country strongly, so they can be stronger.Towards the end of the war militarism had the impact of being reduced greatly from Germany an it gained strength for the alliances.Part of militarism is the weapons used.Towards the start of the war they were used in every way and everything was used and towards the end of the war the weapons use had increased in favor of being stronger and winning with more power.Alliances was a big part in world war one it had the impact of joining together and fighting as one to become stronger, and after the war their impact was great because of the actions caused from alliances such as free trade and peace.Another reason for war was imperialism, in the start of the war the impact of this word was great, stronger countries had taken over weaken countries and gained power, after the war it still had a great impact of stronger countries combining with weaker countries, forming more power.

M.A.I.N is the four main reasons that WWI began. M.A.I.N means militarism, alliance, imperialism, and nationalism. Alliances were created between many of the European countries. Alliances helped caused WWI by creating competition among other alliances. Imperialism is when stronger countries or territories tried to take over weaker countries or territories. Imperialism created a thirst for power among other countries, and many countries competed to take over certain areas of land. Nationalism is having pride and love for your country, which caused people to want to defend their country and be better than everyone else. These three causes of the war also helped end it. Alliances brought certain countries together, who then helped each other with survival. Countries supplied weapons and were even their to help defend their allies. Imperialism helped end the Great War by another country taking over another country, which caused some countries to back down. Nationalism helped end WWI because people had so much pride and love for their country that they were willing to defend it at any risks.

One of the first causes of WW1 was militarism. Militarism was the belief that developing a strong armed force and weapons with the intent to use them. Militarism played a huge part in WW1 because WW1 was all out total war, - meaning that there was no weapons that wouldn't be used - so the idea of militarism factors in because militarism is building stronger weapons. another cause of WW1 was Imperialism. Imperialism is, a stronger country taking over a weaker country. Imperialism played a huge part in WW1 because if Austria Hungary hadn't started war the Serbia, over the death of Arch duke Ferdinand then WW! maybe wouldn't have happened. one of the the other causes for WW1 was the Assassination of Arch duke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. the Black hand - a serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip shoots the Arch Duke, thus being one of the biggest ignitions of WW1.

The main cause of WW1 was M.A.I.N. Stands for militarism which is the belief in developing a strong armed force and weapons. Alliances where countries become friends or allies. Another reason was imperialism and this is when a stronger country taking over a weaker one. The last cause of the war was nationalism which is when a country has pride. The significance in M.A.I.N was that because of imperialism the country must have a larger army to protect its land. Alliances also had a part because they helped to take over other countries in the war. Because of imperialism and nationalism they would help each other hand-in-hand to conquer and the alliances helped to win by having more ammunition and help to defeat the central power.

Militarism played an improtant rule in WW1 because it was one of the main causes of WW1.

Imperialism Germany was Jealous at Great Britain for owning 25% of the world at that time.

Alliance for countries team up against each other. Like (Germany and Italy)

Te M.A.I.N cause of World War I was caused by Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. In the war there was an assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, which hit off the start of the war. Other then the fact of this another reason for the war was because of militarism which means that the army and navy ect. are given a hight profile by the government. In this case Germany had an army that was built up highly. another cause was because of alliances. Germany made many alliances with other countries and so did Great Britain especially with the bigger powers in Europe, so in that case a huge war would be going down. One more cause of the war was because of imperialism, this means when a greater country takes over another. in this case imperialism had a roll because European countries would try taking over parts of Africa and some Asia. These all helped to end the war by bring Germany to an end and fall and be help responsible for the whole thing.

M.A.I.N. stands for militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism, which were all major causes of the start of WW1. The first, militarism, is the belief in having a strong military and then being prepared to defend aggressively. As the production of guns and weaponry increased, more and more countries began to develop this belief, and this helped lead to the war. Secondly, alliances were formed between European nations, and when one country would go into battle, its allied countries would jump into to defend them. Thirdly, imperialism contributed to the start of the war because imperialistic countries would fight over coveted land, which would lead to war. Lastly, nationalism led to the war. Countries wanted to prove their power and dominance over other countries. Essentially, the war ended when Germany surrendered. The U.S. entered the war and made alliances with the allied powers, and forced Germany to surrender because of their increased nationalism and militarism.

FEEDBACK #1 -- Needs Improvement

This is a good start with your extended response; however, you need to focus on expanding your answer. After defining a point, explain its importance or build on what the prompt is asking you. Make a claim (i.e. Militarism greatly impacted the start of WWI). Support that claim with facts or reasons (i.e. Countries had a deep belief that their country should maintain a strong military which led to the creation of new and more destructive weaponry such as the flamethrower and poisonous gas). Then, you need to explain how those reasons and facts support your original claim (i.e. This new type of warfare and strong belief in maintaining a powerful military caused uproar with countries with different interests, leading to the beginnings of the devastating war that ended in large destruction across Europe). Do not be afraid to expand on your claim. Also, make sure you are answering every part of the question. If you need too, break the question up and answer them separately and then go back and put them together to form a nice response. Answering only half of the question will leave yourself with only half of the points. You are on the right track, keep it up!!

FEEDBACK #2 -- Good

Good job here with starting off with your claim. We must remember that we do not want to be using pronouns and words of feeling (i.e. “I think, I feel, etc.,), so continue with that in your writing. Also, once we state a reason in support of the claim, continue to build upon it and elaborate to make support for your claim valid and clear. Good job with starting off with an effective extended response; however, make sure we are answering ALL of the question in the prompt. If you need too, break the question down and answer them separately. That way you make sure each is answered. Then all you need is to form it together. The next one should be MUCH better now! Keep it up!

FEEDBACK#3 -- Very Good

This is a very well written extended response. You do a great job with stating a claim without using pronouns and words of feeling. The reader can easily see that your efforts reflect your writings. Great job with making sure you support your claim with more than one reason while making it warrant your claim. Make sure you continue to answer the question in full and do not leave out detail when answering. You have set the bar relatively high, so now there should be no reason to perform below it. Strive towards performing above it! Great start! Great Job! Keep up the good work!
